Welcome to the International Goodwill Shield Taekwon-Do Championships

A message from the President of the Global Taekwon-Do United Kingdom Association

It is with the greatest respect and pleasure that I welcome you all to this celebratory event to be held in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the organizers in making this event a milestone on the road to our future success.

I warmly welcome all new acquaintances and old friends to this open international championships and hope that the political differences as seen throughout the world today will for this weekend be put aside and shine as a testimony to the true meaning of our international Taekwon-Do relationships; respect for the principles of our art and harmony amongst us all.

To the competitors of this prestigious event I urge you to remember that Taekwon-Do teaches us how to deal with our defeats as well as our victories. Anyone can handle success; the strength of a person’s character is more revealed by how well that person handles defeat.

Good luck at the Championships, I pay tribute to you all.

It gives me much pleasure to welcome all our Taekwon-Do Masters, Students and friends to the wonderful city of Edinburgh. In these times of division in TKD , it is important to remember the feeling of pulling on your dobok, training hard, meeting friends and living by the tenents of TKD. This is the most important thing regardless of what badge or group you belong too. This Goodwill International is designed to pull together TKD students from around the World to compete in harmony, enjoying Taekwon-Do with no politics and creating new bonds which will last forever around the globe. I wish everyone the very best of luck at these championships and thank you for your support. I hope you all enjoy our beautiful city which is steeped in history and immense culture.
